Motorcyclist killed in predawn crash on I-65 in Shelby County
A motorcyclist was killed early Saturday in a single-vehicle crash in Shelby County.
Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Zachary R. Melton. He was 26 and lived in Riverside.
The crash happened at 1:45 a.m. on Interstate 65, about one mile south of Alabaster, said Trooper Sgt. Jeremy Burkett.
According to Burkett, Melton was driving a 2017 Honda Rebel.
The motorcycle left the road and struck a guardrail. Melton was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead on the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by troopers.
