8 things to know about Huntsville City Football Club’s home debut

Huntsville City Football Club will make its home debut in newly renovated Joe Davis Stadium tonight at 7 p.m. in Major League Soccer’s NEXT Pro League.

Huntsville City FC will face Eastern Conference leader Crown Legacy in the match. Huntsville City FC defeated Crown Legacy in an overtime shootout in the season opener. Crown Legacy is the affiliate of Charlotte’s MLS franchise, while Huntsville City FC’s parent club is the Nashville Soccer Club.

Here are 8 things to know heading into the match:

1. Season tickets are still available, including for the opening match. So far, more than 3,000 season tickets have been purchased for this season.

2. Fans can expect to see new amenities at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. The 6,000-seat venue features a team shop set up in the Northwest Corner of the stadium, the Yellowhammer Brewing Craft Beer Garden with acoustic performers, concession stands with stadium favorites, games, and a new turf field that will host Huntsville City Football Club, high school football, rugby, lacrosse, and much more.

3. The national anthem will be performed by Huntsville’s Americana singer Dawn Osborne, who will also perform at the beer garden when gates open.

4. Huntsville City Football Club will honor community members and organizations making a difference in Huntsville at every home match. On Friday, Section 256, a special section in the stadium dedicated to celebrating the community, will host guests from Cavalry Boys and Girls Teen Center. Veteran Private First-Class Jason Guyton of the U.S. Army will be honored with the Landers McLarty Chevrolet Military Salute, while outgoing Superintendent of Huntsville City Schools Christie Finley will be honored as Hero of the Match.

5. Fans will be able to purchase merchandise in support of their new team. The home jerseys – or kits – are on sale for $119.99. Youth jerseys are $79.99 for the primary and secondary kit. Scarves – winter and summer versions – are on sale for3 $40 and hats are $34.99 to 44.99 for snapbacks.

6. Parking at Joe Davis Stadium for the match will be $10 per vehicle.

7. Confirmed concession food: Burgers, hotdogs, nachos and popcorn. Prices not yet available

8. Weather for game time: Partly cloudy in the evening. Increasing clouds with periods of showers after midnight. Low around 65F. Winds light and variable.
