North Alabama shooting suspect reportedly in standoff with law enforcement agencies

A suspect is engaged in a standoff with several law enforcement agencies in north Alabama following a shooting Thursday night.

Rogersville police officers responded to a call of a shooting near Lauderdale County Road 70 and Lauderdale County Road 562 around 5:07 p.m. Thursday, Chief Brian Hudson told WHNT.

A victim was struck by gunfire and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to Hudson.

The suspect fled the scene of the shooting and either began hiding in the woods or a residence, the chief said.

Lauderdale County sheriff’s deputies and the Florence-Lauderdale SWAT team are engaged in a standoff with the suspect near Lauderdale County Road 70, WHNT reported.

The sheriff’s office could not immediately be reached to confirm the report.
