Going to the 2023 Hangout Fest? Hereâs what you canât bring with you
You could say anything goes at the Hangout Music Fest, but lots of things won’t even go through the entrance gate.
Here’s this year’s guide to a lot things you can’t bring in, and a few you can if you do it the right way.
The Nope List:
- Tents, umbrellas, any temporary structures, hard or soft coolers, chairs, inflatable loungers, hammocks
- Pets (except service animals with current rabies vaccination)
- Video equipment including GoPro-type cameras, professional photo equipment, audio recording equipment
- Weapons, knives or firearms, including “any item that can be used as a weapon.”
- “Narcotics, including marijuana,” drug paraphernalia or other illegal substances.
- Most backpacks, cinch bags, briefcases, purses or bags. See below for what’s allowed.
- Alcoholic beverages, food, or other outside beverages
- Unsealed disposable vapor or electronic cigarettes or unsealed packages of cigarettes.
- Unsealed packages of tampons, gum and chapstick/lip gloss
- Drones or other remote flying devices
- Vitamins
- Kites, glow sticks, focused light devices including laser pointers, marker pens, spray paint, air horns, megaphones, water guns, water balloons, any other water projectiles, fidget spinners, skateboards, rollerblades, hoverboards, scooters, bicycles (you’re perfectly welcome to ride them to the fest, but you can’t bring them in), wagons, motorized carts or scooters, large chains or spiked jewelry, Chinese lanterns, fireworks, sparklers, firecrackers, other incendiary or explosive devices, boom boxes or other audio equipment, professional radios, walkie-talkies, flags, flagpoles, selfie sticks
- “Any item that can be used as a means to disturb the peace, endanger the safety of the crowd, and/or inflict damage to people and goods.”
The Yes (Maybe) List:
- Liquid sunscreen, bug spray (Must be in non-aerosol containers of 3 ounces or less)
- Backpacks, bags and purses (If they are clear and no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″) One-gallon clear freezer bags also are acceptable.
- Fanny packs
- Small hand-sized clutch bags with or without handle/strap
- Blankets and beach towels, sunglasses and hats
- Water bottle (One per person, must be empty as you enter, can’t be glass, two-liter maximum)
- Naloxone/Narcan (Must be factory-sealed nasal kit, no more than two per person)
- Baby strollers (Small children required)
- Water bladder (“Although SINGLE POCKET CamelBak style water bladder systems are allowed EMPTY into the venue, the water bladders themselves must be capable of being removed from the carrier and must be transparent enough to allow security to visually inspect the empty bladder. Additionally, CamelBak style bladder carriers must have no more than ONE pocket in addition to the compartment that hold the water bladder. Any CamelBak style water bladders that cannot be removed from the carrier and/or is opaque enough to prevent visual inspection will not be allowed into the festival. Any CamelBak style bladder carriers larger than the permitted size will not be allowed into the festival.”)
- Medicine (“Prescription medications are allowed only in the original prescription bottle, any person attempting to bring in prescription medication must have a government issued photo identification card that matches the name printed on the prescription, and the pills in the bottle must match the description printed on the prescription. You will only be allowed to carry the dosage of prescription medication required for the duration of each individual Event date. Over-the-counter medications are allowed provided that they are new and in the original, factory-sealed container.”)
The fine print:
“ALLOWED/PROHIBITED ITEMS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Hangout Music Festival and private security personnel at the entrances reserve the right to make the final determination on allowed and nonallowed items.”
