Alabama man convicted of manslaughter for fatally shooting mother as a teen
An Alabama man was convicted of manslaughter by a Lee County jury last week in the fatal 2019 shooting of his mother, prosecutors announced Tuesday.
Hunter Walls, now 21, of Cusseta, in Chambers County, was 19 years old when he shot and killed Stacy Walls during an argument on Feb. 9, 2021 in Lee County, the county district attorney’s office announced.
Lee County sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call made by Stacy Walls’ daughter, who said her brother shot her mother, the office said, citing trial evidence.
Hunter Walls was at the scene when deputies arrived.
Witnesses told authorities the son and his mother had an argument that turned physical, leading to the gunfire.
Sentencing has been set for June, the office said.
