Sierra Pacific Windows to open $60 million Phenix City plant, hire 300

Door and window manufacturer Sierra Pacific Windows has announced it will open its first Southeastern production facility in Phenix City.

According to the company, it has acquired 610,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehousing space located on 113 acres in the East Central Alabama city.

WRBL of Columbus, Ga. is reporting the company plans to spend $60 million and hire up to 300 people.

In an announcement from the company, Sierra Pacific says new equipment is already on order for what it says will be its ”most high-tech window and door plant to-date.” The California-based company has existing production facilities in California and Wisconsin and more than 2 million combined square feet of manufacturing space for its Window division.

Sierra Pacific plans to hire technicians, managers, engineers, machine operators, maintenance and other positions.

Phenix City Mayor Eddie Lowe called the project a “major deal for our region and we’re very grateful for the confidence that they have placed in our community and in its leadership. We wish them generations of success.”

Alabama Commerce Secretary Greg Canfield said, “Sierra Pacific will be a vibrant addition to Alabama’s business community, and its investment plans in Phenix City will have a massive economic impact on the entire region.”
