A few severe storms possible today in north Alabama
Isolated severe storms will be possible through tonight in north Alabama, according to forecasters.
The strongest storms could have wind gusts capable of bringing down tree limbs and power lines, as well as hail and heavy rain. Tornadoes aren’t expected with today’s storms.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has added a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather for north Alabama for today (Monday). A Level 1 risk means that isolated severe storms will be possible.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville said strong storms will be possible in the region through 9 p.m.
Storms, including some strong to severe, were in the process of erupting over north Alabama early Monday afternoon, and they will be possible through the evening hours.
The Storm Prediction Center was keeping an eye on Alabama on Monday afternoon but wasn’t anticipating issuing a severe thunderstorm watch:
Strong storms and heavy rain will be possible across the rest of Alabama as well today, but widespread severe weather isn’t expected.
More scattered rain and storms will be possible in Alabama on Tuesday as well, according to the weather service.
So far Alabama is not in a risk area for severe weather on Tuesday, but that could change.
