NFL teams announce more deals with undrafted rookies

Twenty-three NFL teams are holding rookie minicamps this weekend, and nine of them announced on Friday the signings of undrafted rookies who will be participating.

The players included 10 from Alabama high schools and colleges:

· Washington linebacker Cam Bright (Park Crossing High School in Montgomery): Seattle Seahawks

· Troy defensive tackle Shakel Brown: Tennessee Titans

· Alabama defensive tackle DJ Dale (Clay-Chalkville High School): Buffalo Bills

· Duke safety Darius Joiner (Handley High School in Roanoke, Jacksonville State): Houston Texans

· Alabama guard Kendall Randolph (Bob Jones High School in Madison): Seattle Seahawks

· San Diego State wide receiver Tyrell Shavers (Alabama): Buffalo Bills

· Auburn tight end John Samuel Shenker: Las Vegas Raiders

· UAB cornerback Starling Thomas V (Ramsay High School in Birmingham): Detroit Lions

· South Alabama wide receiver Jalen Wayne (Spanish Fort High School): Buffalo Bills

· Auburn offensive tackle Kilian Zierer: Houston Texans

Joiner played at Jacksonville State from 2017 through 2020 before transferring to Western Illinois in 2021 and then to Duke in 2022.

Shavers was at Alabama in 2017 as a redshirt and played in 28 games in 2018 and 2019 with the Crimson Tide before transferring to Mississippi State and then to San Diego State.

Undrafted players usually sign their contracts after arriving for rookie minicamp and undergoing a physical examination.

Many more players are participating in the minicamps as tryout players, hoping to finish the weekend with a contract offer.

So far, 27 NFL teams have announced their signings or contract agreements with undrafted rookies.

Players with Alabama football roots listed in previous announcements as undrafted rookies who have signed contracts included:

· Southern Miss offensive lineman Tykeem Doss (Aliceville High School): Baltimore Ravens

· Mississippi State safety Collin Duncan (St. James School in Montgomery): Los Angeles Rams

· Samford linebacker Nathan East (McAdory High School in McCalla): Los Angeles Chargers

· Alabama guard Emil Ekiyor: Indianapolis Colts

· Ole Miss safety AJ Finley (St. Paul’s Episcopal School in Mobile): Los Angeles Chargers

· Southeastern Louisiana wide receiver Cephus Johnson III (Davidson High School in Mobile, South Alabama): Minnesota Vikings

· Auburn linebacker Eku Leota: Carolina Panthers

· Kentucky guard Tashawn Manning (Auburn): Baltimore Ravens

· Appalachian State running back Camerun Peoples (Central High School of Clay County): Carolina Panthers

· Alabama cornerback Eli Ricks: Philadelphia Eagles

· UAB linebacker Kelle Sanders: Baltimore Ravens

· UAB offensive tackle Kadeem Telfort: Green Bay Packers

UAB defensive lineman Antonio Moultrie participated in the Packers’ rookie minicamp last week as a tryout player, then signed a contract with Green Bay.
