A fiery crash in Dallas County Thursday morning left one person dead.

The wreck happened at 2:30 a.m. on Dallas County 540, about eight miles east of Selma, said Alabama State Trooper Cpl. Reginal King.

A 2004 Honda Accord left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire, King said. The victim was dead on the scene but has not yet been identified.

The investigation is ongoing.
