Fairhope man arrested on child porn distribution charges
A 53-year-old Fairhope man is facing four counts of possession of child porn with intent to distribute after an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force.
According to a release from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, investigation into Kinsey’s activities began with a cyber tip received through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Law enforcement, including the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Department of Homeland Security, used specialized technology and forensic analysis to track down the suspect, later identified as Kinsey, and gather evidence on his activities.
According to the sheriff’s office, the ICAC is a national network of law enforcement agencies dedicated to investigating and prosecuting individuals who use the internet to exploit children.
“The arrest of Jeremy Kinsey serves as a reminder that the internet can be a dangerous place for children and underscores the importance of ongoing efforts to educate the public about the risks and to take action to prevent and combat online exploitation,” the sheriff’s office said in the release.
Kinsey was taken into custody Tuesday without incident. He is being held at the Baldwin County Jail under $100,000 bond — $25,000 for each count, according to the jail docket.
