5 killed in fiery Etowah County crash identified 2 weeks after wreck

Authorities have released the names of four previously unidentified victims killed in a fiery head-on crash in Etowah County last month.

Alabama State Troopers identified the victims as Nelson Loesa-Fernandez, 44, Cesar Arano-Rosales, 55, Norma A. Gonzalez-Garcia, 41, and Yadira Loesa-Fernandez, 48. All of the victims lived in Mississippi.

The fifth victim was previously identified as Jimie M. Francisco. He lived in Crossville.

The wreck happened at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, on Interstate 59 in Etowah County, according to the Alabama State Troopers. That location is about four miles south of Attalla.

Authorities said the 31-year-old Francisco was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu and collided head on with a 2009 Toyota Tundra.

Upon impact, the Toyota burst into flames.

Francisco, of Crossville, was pronounced dead the scene.

Nelson Loesa-Fernandez was the driver of the Toyota. He and his three passengers also died on the scene.
