Former Demopolis head coach Brian Seymore takes over Trinity program

Former Demopolis head coach Brian Seymore is the new head football coach at Trinity Presbyterian in Montgomery.

Trinity announced the hire Wednesday morning.

Seymore replaces Granger Shook, who accepted the coaching job at Pike Road earlier this year.

It’s been a strange six weeks for Seymore, who was approved as Greenville’s head coach on April 3 only to announce a week later that he had stepped down from that position.

He spent the last six years at Demopolis, building a 56-18 record and making the 5A playoffs each season. His first Tiger team in 2017 went to the semifinals and his second reached the quarterfinals.

Seymore also has had head coaching stops at Pike Liberal Arts (2004-2005), Andalusia (2008-2014) and Mary G. Montgomery (2015-2016). His overall record in 17 years as a head coach is 125-66.

He is just Trinity’s fourth head coach since 1989. Randy Ragsdale spent 28 years in the position before retiring in 2016. He was followed by Barry Loyal (2017-2019) and Shook (2020-2022).

The Wildcats have made the playoffs for five straight years and won 28 games in three years under Shook. Last year’s team went 9-3, losing 27-13 at Mobile Christian in the second round of the 3A playoffs.
