Bakery opening storefront in Vestavia Hills will offer breakfast, brunch

A popular Birmingham area bakery is opening a storefront this month in Vestavia Hills.

Rolls Bakery will be located at 621 Montgomery Hwy. in Warren Place Shopping Center and is scheduled to open in the next few weeks.

The bakery will operate in a 2,236-square-foot space formerly occupied by Smoothie King. Shannon Waltchack Broker George Elliott represented the landlord.

Bakery owner Katie Cornutt started Rolls Bakery in her home using her grandmother’s cinnamon roll recipe and quickly gained popularity through social media, offering pickup and delivery. The bakery had a location in Homewood before moving to a production facility on First Avenue North in Birmingham to accommodate groceries and boutiques.

“That was a great starting point, because I didn’t know what I was doing, but we outgrew that space so quickly,” she said. “Our vision is to keep growing and love on people in the community and produce really good cinnamon rolls.”

What’s different this time, Cornutt said, is the Vestavia Hills location will serve coffee and breakfast options.

“We’ve never done coffee and espresso before,” she said. “We’ve got café tables so people can come in and stay a while and hang out. We’ll have yogurt, fruit, poptarts, all the stuff we offer fresh, and rolls they can take and bake at home. And we’re going to do brunch on Saturday. It will be a good, hearty menu.”
