Man charged with murder in west Alabama shooting

A 23-year-old man was booked into the Hale County jail Tuesday on murder charges in the fatal shooting Monday of another man in Greensboro, authorities said Thursday.

At the request of Greensboro police, special agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation launched a probe Monday into the death of 27-year-old Sawyerville resident Nicholas Nickson, who was shot around 12:53 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of Jones Street in Greensboro, said Cpl. Reginal King with ALEA.

On Tuesday, SBI agents arrested Keoviance Kentrell Scott-Golsby, 23, of Sawyerville, in Nickson’s death.

Scott-Golsby was booked into the Hale County Detention Facility on a murder charge.

The investigation into Nickson’s death remained ongoing as of Thursday, and more arrests in the case are coming, King said.

Anyone with information on the deadly shooting was asked to call the SBI at 334-418-8852.
