A Florence man is being held in the Lauderdale County Jail on first degree rape charges in connection with an incident almost two years ago.

According to Florence police, Dusty Ray Jaynes, 26, of Florence, was indicted by a Lauderdale County Grand Jury and arrested Wednesday. He is being held on $60,000 bond.

Police said the arrest came in connection with an event that happened in August of 2021.

Police received a call from a woman who said she was raped at River Heritage Park. After interviewing the victim, investigators went to the scene and collected evidence.

They also interviewed Jaynes and executed a search warrant at his house, according to police.
