Maggie Daniel belted a three-run homer in the ninth inning to give Spain Park a 7-5 win over Hewitt-Trussville in Class 7A, Area 6 action.

The win puts the seventh-ranked Jaguars into Thursday’s championship, facing the winner of second-ranked Hewitt-Trussville and Chelsea, which beat Oak Mountain 5-0 in elimination action.

Spain Park trailed 5-4 when Teagan Huey was plunked to open the bottom of the ninth inning. Katie Flannery followed with a walk and Daniel hit the game-winner following a strikeout.

Daniel also stroked a solo homer in the fifth and finished with four RBIs, scoring three runs.

Ella Ussery, who started at first base and pitched the final four innings in relief for Spain Park, surrendered two hits and had a double and three RBIs at the plate.

Hewitt-Trussville’s Chaney Peters had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs while Hannah Dorsett had a triple and RBI and Gracie Reeves had two hits, including a double.
