Atlanta active shooter: Multiple injuries, suspect still at large

Atlanta police have issued a shelter in place order while they investigate a report of an active shooter in Midtown. Multiple people have been injured, police confirmed.

Officers have responded inside the Northside Hospital Midtown medical office building at 1110 West Peachtree Street. There is a large contingency of heavily armed officers outside.

“We are aware of multiple people injured,” police tweeted at 12:42 p.m. “No suspect is in custody.”

Anyone in the area is asked to secure their building and shelter in place, and anyone not in the area is asked to stay away.

Photos appear to show a man with dark skin wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a medical mask carrying what appears to be a black gun. A bag or some other item is strapped to his chest.

“Anyone with any information on this person’s whereabouts is asked to call 911,” a police spokesperson said. “The suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.”
