As the weather warms, construction projects throughout the region are set to intensify, and road projects are no exception.

Here are some upcoming road projects in Mobile County from the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission. This list includes information the McGregor Avenue project, which started Monday and will last for two years and the Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Project, expected to be the most expensive road project in the state’s history.

Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Project

The mammoth project to replace the Mobile River Bridge and Interstate 10 Bayway is in the design phase now. Construction is set to start in February 2024. The project is expected to cost $2.7 billion and be the most expensive road project in Alabama history.
