Tim Bachman of Bachman-Turner Overdrive dead at 71

Tim Bachman, one of the co-founding members of Canadian rock group Bachman-Turner Overdrive, is dead at age 71.

Tim’s son, Ryder Bachman, announced on Facebook that his father died Friday. “Grateful I got to spend some time with him at the end,” Ryder wrote. “Grab yer loved ones and hug ‘em close, ya never know how long you have.” According to ET, Tim Bachman had been in hospice care after a battle with brain cancer.

The guitarist and vocalist co-founded BTO in the early 1970s with his brothers, Randy and Robbie Bachman, and Fred Turner. Tim Bachman played on the first two albums in 1973, including on the hit song “Takin’ Care of Business,” then left Bachman-Turner Overdrive and was replaced by Blair Thornton.

Bachman rejoined the group on a 1984 reunion tour and performed throughout the ‘80s, but later worked as a realtor in Alberta, Canada. The band was inducted into the Canadian Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
