Man found slain on Opelika creek bed 30 years ago still unidentified; police seeking help

It’s been nearly 33 years since a young man was found slain on a Lee County creek bed, and investigators are still trying to learn his identity.

The body was discovered Sept. 22, 1990, on a creek bed off Anderson Road, about one-tenth of a mile from Interstate 85 in Opelika.

An autopsy showed that the victim had been shot one time.

He was wearing a white St. Louis Cardinals jersey with red pin stripes, Jordache blue jeans and black Ellesse shoes.

Investigators believe the victim was between the ages of 18 to 25. He was about 5-feet, 8-inches tall and weighed approximately 135 to 145 pounds.
