Brookwood Baptist Medical Center completes $30 million operating room addition
Birmingham’s Brookwood Baptist Medical Center is opening its new 18,822-square-foot operating room addition this week.
A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. in the hospital’s Cancer Center parking area.
Work began on the $30 million project in November 2021, when the hospital announced the addition would feature 13 new operating rooms across two floors, as well as administrative spaces.
There is also a 3,500-square-foot post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) renovation and a new pedestrian bridge. The new suite will also allow for advanced cardiac and vascular procedures and robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgeries.
The addition was designed to offer more technologically advanced care, with a broader range of specialty surgeries, according to hospital officials.
Evan Terry & Associates was the architect. Birmingham-based construction firm Robins & Morton was the general contractor.
