Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs was drafted Thursday by the Detroit Lions in the first round with the No. 12 overall pick. His jersey is now available at Fanatics.

Gibbs transferred to Alabama in December of 2021. Before that, Gibbs was a four-star according to 247Sports Composite and the No. 76 overall player in the class of 2020. A native of Dalton, Georgia, stayed home and played his first two seasons at Georgia Tech. He started his first seven games before suffering an injury but racked up 460 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman.

Gibbs led the Yellowjackets’ ground game again as a sophomore, averaging 5.2 yards a carry for 746 yards and six total touchdowns (four rushing, two receiving). He quickly became Alabama’s top offensive weapon last fall. Gibbs was the only skill player to surpass 1,000-plus scrimmage yards (1,370). He posted a career-high 10 touchdowns, seven on the ground.

Gibbs (5-foot-9, 199 pounds) is one of the most talented pass catchers the NFL is likely to see at the running back position, and with 4.36 speed the Alabama/Georgia Tech product is a threat to go the distance from any part of the field.
