Polaris ships first all-electric off-road vehicles made in Alabama
Polaris Inc. says it has shipped dealers the first of its new Alabama-built Kinetic model electric off-road vehicles. The vehicles were made at Polaris’ manufacturing facility in Huntsville.
“Since announcing our electrification efforts and partnership with Zero Motorcycles, it has been major milestone moments like today’s announcement that have motivated and driven our team to engineer and deliver category-redefining powersports vehicles,” Steve Menneto, president of Off Road, Polaris, said in a statement. “The RANGER XP Kinetic demonstrates the game-changing performance advantages that an electric powertrain can provide, and we look forward to getting these vehicles into the hands of our dealers and consumers across the country.”
The company says it sold out orders for its original supply two hours after opening its order window. More orders and dealer orders will be taken this summer, the company said.
The new vehicle offers the most horsepower and torque yet in a utility side-by-side, Polaris said. It can tow up to 2,500 libs and haul 1,250 pounds. Electric off-road vehicles will also allow quieter work that doesn’t wake neighbors or agitate livestock, the company said.
