Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson suffered a UCL sprain during Saturday’s A-Day game.

Jason Simpson, the redshirt freshman’s father, confirmed the news to Rivals’ Tide Illustrated on Monday night.

Per the report, the injury will require Ty Simpson to spend three to four weeks in a cast. However, he isn’t expected to miss any time and will be ready to open fall camp. It appears he was injured when his throwing motion caused him to hit his hand on the helmet of offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor early in the spring game.

Ty Simpson, per Jason Simpson, saw a hand specialist and there was not a break.

The quarterback finished the day 12 of 26 passes for 155 yards with an interception during the scrimmage.

Simson is in a tight battle with Jalen Milroe for the starting job, which didn’t see much clarity Saturday during the A-Day Game.

Milroe, who led the White team with first-team offensive players, completed 19 of 37 passes for 245 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

The lack of separation caused SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum to call the quarterback situation a “state of confusion” on Monday.

“We are exactly where we thought we would be: In a state of confusion,” Finebaum said Monday. “However, I don’t think it means as much as some on social media are saying that it will.”
