28-year-old Bessemer man killed in weekend head-on crash in western Jeffco

A Bessemer man has been identified as a motorist killed in a weekend head-on crash in western Jefferson County.

Travis Dylan Hurt, 28, died early Sunday following the Saturday-night wreck, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

The wrecked happened at 11:45 p.m. Saturday in the 3400 block of 15th Street Road.

Jefferson County sheriff’s Lt. Joni Money said it appears one of the vehicles crossed over the center line, striking the other head on. The coroner’s office said Hurt’s vehicle crossed the center line.

Hurt and another motorist were taken to the hospital from the scene, Money said.

Hurt was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1 a.m. Sunday. A 51-year-old woman remains in critical condition.

A third man was in one of the vehicles, but he was not hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene and is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
