A woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle in eastern Jefferson County.

The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Brewster Road.

Sheriff’s Lt. Joni Money said the 42-year-old victim was crossing the road when she was hit. She was taken to UAB Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Her name has not yet been released.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigators from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.
