Alabama’s Malachi Moore, Tim Smith recognized as A-Day most valuable players

After Team Crimson beat Team White, 30-21, in Alabama football’s spring scrimmage in Bryant-Denny Stadium, the last tradition of A-Day took place on the field.

Malachi Moore was recognized as the most valuable player, winning the Dixie Howell Memorial Award as voted on by the media. Tim Smith was given the Dwight Stephenson Award for being the best lineman.

Moore, a senior defensive back, led his side with nine tackles, three sacks, a pass breakup and a quarterback hit. Smith had four tackles and a pass breakup himself.

While neither of the starting quarterback contenders had a particularly impressive showing, it wasn’t all bad for the Tide. Both defenses generated turnovers and limited whoever was in the backfield for Alabama. They picked off Jalen Milroe (twice), Ty Simpson, Eli Holstein and the fourth thrower, Dylan Lonergan, had a would-be interception dropped.
