1 killed after vehicle leaves road, catches fire in Helena
One person was killed in a fiery single-vehicle accident Thursday in Helena, police said.
Helena police responded to the scene of the wreck on Highway 52 East at Dearing Downs Drive, the department said on its Facebook account.
The vehicle left the road and then caught fire, the department said.
“Unfortunately HPD can confirm one individual in the vehicle is deceased,” the agency said.
Pelham police and the Shelby County Traffic Homicide team assisted Helena police.
The highway “will be closed for an extended period of time,” the department said, cautioning motorists to find an alternate route.
