Late goal lifts No. 2 Alabama soccer over No. 7 Arkansas

A penalty kick in the closing moments was the difference in one of Alabama women’s soccer program’s biggest games ever.

Ashlynn Serepca’s found the net nearly 84 minutes into Sunday’s to lift No. 2 Alabama past No. 7 Arkansas, 2-1.

Alabama is now 14-1-1 with three games left in the regular season.

The win was the Crimson Tide’s 10th straight and the third over a top-10 opponent this season. Alabama’s only loss came Aug. 21 at Miami with a 14-game unbeaten streak beginning from there.

Arkansas (10-3-1) struck first Sunday. Ava Tankersley scored 17:36 into the game before Gessica Skorka tied it eight minutes later. Gianna Paul had the assist on the equalizer.

Tide goalkeeper McKinley Crone had five saves as the Razorbacks put six shots on goal compared to Alabama’s three.

Next for the Crimson Tide is an Oct. 20 game at Mississippi State.
