Alabama high school senior teen killed, another teen injured in Chambers County crash

One teen was killed, and another injured in a crash in Chambers County.

The wreck happened at 6:45 p.m. Monday on Chambers County 268, about 10 miles west of Roanoke, said Alabama State Trooper Cpl. Reginal King.

State troopers do not release the names of juvenile victims.

Roanoke City Schools identified the fatality victim as Handley High School senior Terrance Tucker.

A 16-year-old Handley student – Zehkylah Joiner – was driving a Honda Accord that left the road and struck a tree. She was taken to the hospital with serious injures.

Tucker, who was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene, King said.

“As a school district and community, we are deeply saddened by the death of this student and we pray for Zehkylah’s full recovery,’’ said Superintendent Gregory Foster. “We ask for prayers for the young man’s family, the faculty, staff, and the students of Handley High School as we all grieve this tragic loss.”

Foster said counselors from the system will be made available to students and staff.

“When such a tragic loss touches one family, it affects us all,’’ Foster said. “Handley High is an essential part of this community.  Please join me in continuing to lift them up in your prayers during this time.”

The investigation is ongoing by troopers.
