Second-year Alabama tight end enters transfer portal
Second-year Alabama tight end Elijah Brown entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday, according to multiple reports, including On3 Sports.
Brown did not play for the Tide last season as a freshman and redshirted. He was a four-star recruit from Dayton, Ohio ranked No. 299 nationally in the 2022 class by 247 Sports’ composite.
Brown’s departure leaves Alabama with six scholarship tight ends, including Maryland transfer CJ Dippre, the presumed replacement for Cameron Latu as the starter at the position. Junior Robbie Ouzts has been limited this spring by injury, and Nick Saban on Saturday praised the progress made by second-year tight ends Danny Lewis and Amari Niblack.
The NCAA spring transfer portal opened Saturday and remains open through April 30. Graduate players can enter the portal at any time.
Alabama practices Tuesday and Thursday this week, before its spring game Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.
