An early-morning shooting in east Birmingham left one man dead.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Brandon Lamar Uqrhart. He was 22 and lived in Birmingham.

The shooting happened at 2:15 a.m. in the 600 block of Earline Circle. Uqrhart was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:53 a.m.

Police said few details are available.

Uqrhart is the city’s 32nd homicide in 2023. Of those, three have been ruled justifiable and therefore aren’t deemed criminal.

In all of Jefferson County, there have been 43 homicides including the 32 in Birmingham.
