2 killed in shooting at north Alabama home Thursday

Two people are dead following a shooting at a north Alabama home Thursday.

Madison County sheriff’s deputies responded to the shooting in the 100 bock of Rose Valley Drive in New Market, the agency said Thursday afternoon on its Facebook page. Huntsville Emergency Services, Inc. and sheriff’s office investigators were also on the scene.

Two people were shot at the residence, the sheriff’s office said.

The victims, who were not immediately identified, were later pronounced dead, Madison County Coroner Tyler Berryhill told WAAY.

Neither Berryhill nor a spokesman for the sheriff’s office could be reached to confirm the report that the victims died.

After the shooting, a chase that started at the home ended in a wreck on Winchester Road near Buckhorn High School, WAFF reported.

The driver, a juvenile boy, was taken to an area hospital for treatment, Brent Patterson with the sheriff’s office told WAFF. It wasn’t immediately clear if he was a suspect in the shooting.
