Bayshore moved up a classification by the AHSAA’s competitive balance rule this season after winning back-to-back state titles in their first two years of eligibility. The Eagles host Class 5A No. 8 St. Paul’s on Friday. Perennial state champion G.W. Long fell one spot to No. 2 as the two teams head to what could be an eventual playoff showdown.
In addition to Priceville and Bayshore Christian, there also is a new No. 1 in Class 7A in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings. Thompson moved back to No. 1 after a win over Tuscaloosa County on Tuesday. The two teams were scheduled to conclude their series Wednesday. The weekly ASWA rankings were already completed by the time Wednesday’s games started.
