Alabama men’s basketball signs last high school commit, adds Kris Parker

Kris Parker is a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

While rosters across the country undergo turnover while transfers find new homes and NBA Draft-hopefuls make their decisions, Alabama officially added the last of its three high school commits in the class of 2023.

Parker, 6-foot-6, 170-pounds, is a four-star forward and the No. 92 player in the 247Sports Composite. The team confirmed his arrival with a tweet on Wednesday — the start of the late signing period for players.

Parker averaged 24.8 points and 14.2 rebounds per game with Crossroads (Fla.) Academy under his father and head coach Kenneth Parker. Kris Parker was named the 2A player of the year in April after finishing 15th in the state in scoring and seventh in assists (7.1 per game). His 3-point shooting ability and ball skills will help the Tide fill out its wing rotation, which is losing likely top-three draft pick Brandon Miller.

Nate Oats’ 2023 class is ranked 17th overall. It’s added one transfer in Wichita State guard Jaykwon Walton and is a finalist for Hofstra’s Aaron Estrada. Among its high school pickups, Davin Cosby, a four-star guard, reclassified and joined Alabama for the playoff run and redshirted. Its two other four-star forwards, Sam Walters and Mouhamed Dioubate, had already signed their letters of intent.

They’ll join the team ahead of the 2023-24 season when the Tide will look to defend its Southeastern Conference title and once again reach the Sweet 16. As of Wednesday, Alabama could return no starters from a group that became the first team in school history to make the NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed.

In addition to Miller, Noah Clowney, Charles Bediako, Jahvon Quinerly and Mark Sears have entered their name for draft consideration. (Clowney is expected to be a first-round pick.) Nimari Burnett and Jaden Bradley have transferred as well.
