Huntsville man faces 5 child porn counts after being captured by feds
A Huntsville man is being held in the Madison County Jail on five counts of possession of child pornography after federal authorities took him into custody in Birmingham, police said Wednesday.
Huntsville police executed a search warrant in December for a home on Saint Charles Road Southeast that led to the charges against 65-year-old Stuart Edwin Smith.
On Tuesday, Smith was captured in Birmingham by U.S. Marshals before being booked Wednesday in the Madison County Jail. His bond was set at $50,000, jail records showed.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security also assisted with the investigation, according to Huntsville police.
The investigation remained ongoing as of Wednesday and further information was unavailable.
