As many as 18,500 jobs are available in the Huntsville area, according to job seeker websites ZipRecruiter, Indeed and Glassdoor.

That includes 1,312 jobs with the Huntsville Hospital system, according to Indeed. There are 115 certified Huntsville City Schools positions listed on the Alabama State Board of Education jobs board.

Mazda Toyota and its suppliers recently held a jobs fair seeking to fill some 700 positions. The automobile manufacturer and Huntsville Hospital were among more than 30 local employers participating in the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber’s Relaunch Jobs Fair on Tuesday.

Madison City Schools, the Madison County Commission, Crestwood Medical Center, the University of Alabama in Huntsville and the U.S. Space and Rocket Center also participated in the fair.

In a previous interview with the Lede, Huntsville Hospital CEO Jeff Samz said that filling positions can be a challenge because of competing with other businesses in the area for entry level workers.

And Huntsville City Schools Superintendent Christie Finley and Madison City Schools Superintendent Ed Nichols said during the recent State of the Schools event that filling teacher positions has also been a challenge for their districts.
