Murder suspect out on bail caught smuggling items into jail
Allen John Hoe, accused of a 2020 murder in Monroe County, was granted bail in the case, but now finds himself back in prison.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says Hoe is back in custody after he was caught trying to smuggle cellphones, lighters and other contraband into the Monroe County Detention Facility.
The sheriff’s office says Hoe attempted to smuggle the items into the prison via the lobby restroom, but he was recognized by the jail staff and they thwarted his plan before the items made it into the inmate housing area.
Hoe is now charged with multiple counts of promoting prison contraband and his bond for the murder charge has been revoked.
According to the sheriff’s office, Hoe was arrested in late July 2020 and charged with murder in a June 2020 domestic incident in which police say Hoe shot and killed someone before shooting himself in the head.
He was taken into custody after being released from the hospital.
