2 charged in 2021 Anniston homicide
Two men have been charged with murder in a 2021 homicide in Anniston.
Police on Tuesday announced the arrests of Cedrick Lamon Woolverton, 22, and Angelo Terry Smith, 27. They are charged in the Aug. 18, 2021, shooting death of 33-year-old Maurice McCauley.
Police found McCauley and two other people shot that Wednesday in the 1800 block of Moore Avenue.
McCauley was taken to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The other two victims survived.
A motive has not been disclosed.
Anniston police and the Calhoun County Major Crimes Unit investigated the deadly shooting. The suspects were taken into custody Monday and remain held in the Calhoun County Jail.
Authorities say additional charges could be filed in connection with the wounding of the two surviving victims.
