Kliff Kingsbury lands job on USC staff, reports say
Kliff Kingsbury has been hired to the staff at USC, according to multiple reports.
The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman and NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero are reporting that the former Texas Tech and Arizona Cardinals head coach will work as a senior offensive analyst. Kingsbury will reportedly work closely with the Trojans’ quarterbacks, including reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams.
Kingsbury, 43, was briefly USC’s offensive coordinator under former coach Clay Helton in 2018, but left the school without coaching a game when he was hired by the Cardinals. He went 28-37-1 in four seasons in Arizona, including 4-13 in 2022.
Kingsbury went 35-40 in six seasons at Texas Tech, never winning more than eight games in a season. His 2016 team led by future NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes finished just 5-7.
At USC, Kingsbury will be reunited with Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley, his former college teammate. Kingsbury was Texas Tech’s starting quarterback in 2002, when Riley was a freshman walk-on who was on the team for one season before becoming a student assistant coach.
