Suspect charged with murder in weekend shooting death of another woman in Homewood

A 24-year-old woman has been charged in the weekend shooting death of another woman at a Homewood apartment complex.

Tayla Roxann Roland is charged with murder, said Homewood police Sgt. John Carr. She is charged in the Saturday slaying of 25-year-old Kaziya Nykysha Page.

Page, of Birmingham, was found shot at 11:42 a.m. Saturday in the breezeway of an apartment complex in the 200 block of Robert Jemison Road. She had been shot twice in the lower abdomen.

Page was taken to UAB Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 2:18 p.m.

Roland was taken into custody by Homewood police shortly before 4:30 p.m. The arrest was made at a residence in the 1200 block of Circle Trail in Birmingham.

Authorities said the deadly shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Roland will be transferred from the Homewood City Jail to the Jefferson County Jail on Monday. She will be held without bond under Aniah’s Law.
