A morning shooting in Bessemer sent a woman to the hospital with series injures.

The shooting happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday in the area of Charleston Drive and Brewer Drive.

Bessemer police Lt Christian Clemons said a domestic dispute took place between a man and woman, both of whom were armed with guns.

The woman was shot in the torso. She was taken to UAB Hospital.

The man stayed on the scene, Clemons said, and is in custody to undergo questioning.

The man and the woman are in a dating relationship, he said.

Both guns were recovered.
