The composition of Wheat Pennies was changed before World War II to zinc-coated steel. A few errors were made in the steel coins, which can make them more valuable.

Double-die pennies, coins struck twice by a metal die during the minting process resulting in doubled artwork, can be worth as much as $2,000 according to the report.
