‘Jeopardy!’ champ Brian Henegar compared to Hitler, reacts to ‘hurtful comments,’ quits social media
Social media has reared its ugly head and directed its venom at new Jeopardy! champion Brian Henegar, comparing him to Hitler.
As a result, a guest services agent from La Follette, Tenn., is no longer on any social media platform.
Henegar became a social media target after an April 4 episode of the game show aired. His reaction to winning was a genuine shock and joy.
Henegar clutched his chest in disbelief when his total of $23,201 was announced.
“As I believe is slowly dawning on you,” Jennings joked, “you’re the new ‘Jeopardy!’ champion.”
While many on social media were excited for Henegar, the trolls won the day.
Henegar, 40, who works at Pilot Flying J truck stop, dethroned reigning champ Crystal Zhao with a whopping $23,201 in winnings.
“I need someone in Brian’s life to tell him he kinda looks like Hitler,” one viewer tweeted.
“Brian was so excited when he won, he caused quite a führer,” remarked another viewer.
Henegar called out the behavior, then said he would donate part of the proceeds to a worthy cause before announcing he was done with social media.
