Helicopter pilot walks away unscathed after crashing in Baldwin County

A helicopter pilot walked away unscathed after crashing shortly after takeoff Thursday afternoon in Baldwin County.

The pilot of the private mini chopper had engine and control issues during takeoff at Collier Airpark in Magnolia Springs, Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency officials told WKRG.

The pilot tried to set the chopper down but it tipped over, the agency said.

The pilot then got out of the helicopter, which burst into flames after he escaped from the aircraft.

The pilot was not injured in the crash.
