Birmingham’s Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator moving

Two names in Birmingham’s tech innovation landscape are getting closer.

Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator, the region’s greenhouse for energy innovation startup growth, is moving to Innovation Depot.

Techstars has been based at the Denham Building for the last three years.

Rae’Mah Henderson, program manager, made the announcement on LinkedIn, saying the move will be completed this summer.

“You know it’s real when you start packing boxes,” Henderson wrote. “So many beautiful memories have been captured here. So much of the ‘down in the trenches’ work and building of the program was done here.”

A shared address is not the only connection. Innovation Depot’s current CEO is Brooke Gillis, who had been program manager for the Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator since 2020 prior to moving over to the depot in December.

Henderson said “so much thought and love being put into our space to welcome us once we move.”

“We’re going from one special place to another special place. Creating more memories and fun times!” Henderson’s post stated.

Applications are currently open for the Techstars September accelerator group through June 7. Techstars focuses on startups addressing innovative electrical and utility solutions.
