Masters concession food is super cheap: Here’s the full menu

Buy a ticket to one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world, and you can enjoy a pimento cheese sandwich for $1.50.

Golf-obsessed fans would probably sacrifice more than their bank accounts to watch the Masters Tournament at Augusta National with their own eyes, and they know about the event’s highly affordable concessions — a stark contrast to most sporting venues’ inflated rates.

Less than two dollars for a sandwich, just five bucks for a beer? You feel like you’ve died and gone to Amen Corner.

So why are they so cheap? According to the Masters website, when the tournament formed in the 1930s, Augusta National Golf Club co-Founder Clifford Roberts “realized that feeding the masses who attended the Tournament would be a necessary customer service attribute.”

“Providing a simple menu of sandwiches, snacks and drinks allowed for the low prices and also provided a means to prepare the food in resident Augustans’ kitchens in the early days and on to today’s off-property, mass-production of the iconic sandwiches, sheathed in green plastic wrapping with a grocery store-like listing of ingredients,” the Masters site says.

Another reason? Perhaps because fans have already shelled out for tickets.

Golf.com reports that while it isn’t easy to find and buy Masters tickets, there are ways. “Every year, usually in late May or early June, Augusta National opens its tickets lottery for about three weeks so Masters fans can get a chance to see Augusta National Golf Club in person,” the report says. If you win the lottery, practice round tickets cost $100 each, and tournament days are $140 each. If you don’t and you have to find tickets on secondhand markets, prices skyrocket.”

So if you paid at least $1,000 to witness golf history and soak in the azaleas on Masters Sunday, two bucks for a sandwich seems like a fair deal.

At the tournament, you’ll find seven full-service, open-air concession stands placed around the property, all stocked with the famous assortment of sandwiches, snacks, drinks and sweets. While the menu has evolved throughout the years, you’ll find a few mainstays people travel far and wide to try: The pimento cheese and egg salad sandwiches, plus the Georgia peach ice cream sandwich (which makes its return in 2023). More on Masters concessions.

The Masters official Twitter account posted a video featuring tournament rookie Tom Kim taking a $20 bill into the concession stand to see what all he could buy.

After picking out a few items (pimento cheese sandwich, egg salad sandwich, Georgia peach ice cream sandwich, white chocolate Georgia pecan cookie), Kim learned the stand doesn’t take cash, so his $20 bill was no good. A police officer gave him the heads-up, so he took out a credit card to pay for the haul, which totaled just north of $12.

All facilities at Augusta National Golf Club are cashless. They accept credit and debit cards.
