Work is finally beginning on a MidCity hotel that was announced three years ago.

The city of Huntsville issued a permit for construction of the $15.5 million Hotel Indigo project at 940 Nunnahsae Park. It was the most expensive project issued a permit last week in Madison, Limestone and Morgan Counties, according to Southern Exposure Information.

An even 100 permits were issued in the three counties totaling more than $34 million. Hotel Indigo made up the bulk of the $21.6 million in projects Huntsville, where 42 permits were issued.

Thirty permits totaling more than $7 million were issued in Madison County, while 22 were issued in Madison topping $3.7 million. Athens issued four permits totaling $1.5 million.

The Hotel Indigo permit was issued to Chattanooga-based developer Vianova Management. Buffalo Construction of Louisville, Kentucky, is the builder.
