Investigators seize 11 pounds of fentanyl pills in 2 North Alabama drug raids
The Lauderdale County Drug Task Force announced this afternoon that its members seized about 11 pounds of fentanyl pills, along with other drugs and firearms, on Monday.
According to the agency, the seizures came after a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 400 block of Plum Street in Florence and later, a hotel room. Investigators found 16 grams of crack cocaine, and about 50 grams of fentanyl pills, along with some drug paraphernalia at the residence.
According to investigators, that search led to a hotel room in Florence, where another search turned up 11 pounds of fentanyl, or about 64,000 pills, along with four pounds of marijuana and several firearms.
Authorities charged:
Malek Fonte Harris, 23, of Florence, with trafficking in fentanyl, and second degree marijuana possession.
Tiffani Chimere Harris, 43, of Florence, with drug possession with intent to distribute (cocaine) and second degree marijuana possession.
Desmond Deshawn Powers, 35, of Florence, with trafficking in fentanyl and marijuana.
More charges are expected.
Florence police, the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, the district attorney’s office, and Florence/Lauderdale Special Operations Team took part in the investigation.
