Funeral today for slain Huntsville police officer Garrett Crumby
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. today at Mayfair Church of Christ for slain Huntsville police officer Garrett Crumby.
Burial will be at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park on Monday, following the service in Huntsville.
“Today, flags in Alabama are flying at half-staff,” Gov. Kay Ivey tweeted this morning.
Crumby “tragically lost his life last week while protecting his community. As he is laid to rest today, we honor him and pray for his family,” Ivey wrote.
Crumby, 36, died following a shooting Tuesday afternoon at an apartment complex on the 4600 block of Governors House Drive. Another officer, Albert Morin, 34, was seriously wounded by is expected to recover. An unnamed woman was also injured.
On Friday, police released a photo of Morin giving two thumbs up from his Huntsville Hospital bed, surrounded by Police Chief Kirk Giles and officers.
Crumby joined Huntsville police in August 2020 following seven years as a patrol and field training officer with Tuscaloosa police.
